The Montessori Picnic at Perry Lakes was fantastic. Thanks to all the families who assisted with transport and were able to stay and enjoy the day. They children had a wonderful time playing on the giant playground and were treated to a clown performance. The best bit was the boat race!! All had a super day and even the bus ride was fun.

School Camp

Imported from old site – December 2009

The Seals and Starfish children went to Woodman Point last week for their annual camp.

Before we checked into Woodman Point we went to the Esplanade Park in Fremantle for a play and snack. The children all loved the large climbing net and almost everyone made it to the top!

Wednesday afternoon the children settled into their dormitories and played with their friends. After dinner we went on a “Ghost Tour”. It really was a night tour of the historic parts of Woodman Point. The whole area used to be a Quarantine Facility and parts are over 120 years old. We did go into the ‘bush’ to see graves of some early workers and everyone was very glad that they brought their torches.

Thursday we were busy at the beach in the morning, followed by some orienteering. The children worked in groups of three to locate markers within the area. They all did very well, despite the heat. After lunch, kite making was a big hit and kept everyone busy.

Everyone was very tired and very glad to see their families when they collected them on Friday morning.

A special thankyou to Bronwyn Nattrass for catering for us. All the food was absolutely delicious and the children were always going back for seconds. Thanks to Eric Limburg for bringing his telescope out to us and showing Jupiter to us all. A big thankyou to our 2 parent helpers – Renee Braovitch and Ivo Madeira. They slept over both nights and we really appreciated all your help. Also thanks to Scott Wright, who came out to sleep over also.

Our school is being represented by Jack and Carla at the Rockingham Junior Council. They went for their first meeting on Friday.

Hi. My name is Jack. I am in the Seals and I have just been to my first day in Junior Council with Carla. I thought it was going to be so hard but I was wrong. It was so much fun. We had cake and we made so many friends there.

Harmony day

Imported from old site – 27 March 2009

Student News

On Wednesday we celebrated harmony day. Harmony day is about doing things for other countries cultures.

Our class made all the food. We did research on the countries and the food. We made biscuits, apple cake lemon cake, sushi, hot dogs, quiches, mini pizzas, fairy bread, party pies and sausage rolls.

I liked making the pizzas best but all the rest was fun too.

I learnt how to make sushi. We made vegetarian and tuna sushi.

Open Council Meeting

Imported from old site – 10 March 2009

Thank you to the parents who attended the Open Council Meeting. We appreciate your thoughts, comments and ideas. It also helps to have feedback from people who think ‘outside the square’ and approach a problem from a different angle. Also my thanks to Leigh and Kerry who provided the child care.

A key proposal relates the reviewing and simplification of the school fee structure and the increasing of school fees. Please have a look at the latest newsletter to read the proposal and rationale behind it. Please note that this is still a proposal and the Council are seeking feedback and suggestions before the details are finalised. You can voice your opinion directly to council members, by submitting a written document outlining your concerns or on our School Forums.

A number of fund-raising initiatives have been arranged and these have been added to the School Calendar. Please note these dates and participate in the many fund-raising, but also great fun, social occasions. We particularly look forward to welcoming our playgroup parents to these events.
